Well, today was a rough day for our little miss. A little teething and fever, and I think the realization of "what the heck just happened to me, and who ARE these people?" just set in and Ellie was a sleepy, weepy baby today. She did not want to be anywhere but in my arms, so we spent a good portion of the day walking the floor. We did take a little trip to the Chinese equivalent of Walmart, which was interesting---more street crossing (yikes!), and trying to read Chinese grocery labels (hilarious!) The reaction we received (there was a group of about ten of us) was also so funny! People were taking pictures of our group and following us around Walmart like we were some strange aliens or famous celebrities (probably a little mix of both!) There is a dad in our group who is very tall by American standards, which makes him about twice the height of an average male here. He got the most attention! :-) . We did discover that Ellie loves the stroller today (for which my back is eternally grateful! :-) so we did some exploring and touring around the hotel to try to cheer her up a bit. It's actually Wednesday morning at 5:00 a.m. here (I am trying to answer a few emails and update the blog before she wakes up), and today our group is going to visit an historic Chinese pavilion nearby. Tomorrow (Thursday) is our last full day in Nanchang, and then we fly to Guangzhou for the last leg of the trip! I have to say that I am finding China enchanting--the Chinese people are very warm and welcoming. BUT, we will sure be glad to come home!!
